Alex loves raptors so he plays this song with great flair! Alex played in the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival this year and got a Superior rating - his second consecutive Superior! He also earned a gold medal in the Piano Olympics last fall. Congratulations, Alex!
David received a Superior rating in the 2022 National Federation of Music Clubs Festival for his performance of this piece. He says that imagining the little girl dancing around while he plays helps his expression of the piece.
Kevin has been a student at Luck Studios for many, many years! He loves music and both sings and plays with great joy! We've been working on finding sharps and flats this year.
Noah loves to play FAST notes and energetic songs. This piece was one of his National Federation pieces this year for which he earned his third consecutive Superior rating. Note the trophy on the left! That is his 15 point gold cup for having three Superior ratings. Congratulations, Noah!
It can sometimes be a challenge to find classical genre songs that are fast enough to interest Noah, but he took to this Tarantella and plays it with finesse!
Mia worked very diligently for many weeks to learn this song from Frozen that was at the very end of one of her books! She did a great job sticking with it until she could play it well!
This is the last song from another book that Mia finished this year! She memorized it and it became her favorite song to play. What a great first year of lessons!
Belle loves to sing and has a lovely voice. The text of this piece is from Shakespeare and has very fun back-and-forth comments between the singer and the accompanist!
Belle asked to work on this beautiful pop song originally sung by Aurora. It has some very interesting and hauntingly beautiful vocal slides and ornaments which Belle sings very well! We used a YouTube backing track for the accompaniment so please excuse the technical glitches that occured due to the teacher not being quite sure how that would work!
Samantha is an accomplished musician! She sings and plays in a local band and is also teaching music in Yorktown. She is always ready to approach a challenge with determination, including singing in French for the first time! Bravo, Samantha!
Victoria graduated from high school this year and will be studying at ODU next year. She has been a great student in both piano and voice! We all wish her well on her new adventures!
Alexander studied composition at Luck Studios for a few years during high school. His digital compositions were amazing! He has returned this year to develop his piano skills and has made amazing progress! The jumping bassline in this jazzy piece is no easy task for a newer pianist, but he managed it with panache!
All the students in the studio have done such a great job this year! I'm proud of them all. I hope if you enjoyed a particular student's performance that you will fill out the contact form below to send some applause to them! I'll let the student know about their comments and may post some below as well. Thank you for listening!
