Luck Studios is a private teaching studio created by John and Samantha Luck. Both John (the artist) and Samantha (the musician) are dedicated to teaching the arts in a fun and supportive environment. For three years Luck Studios was located in Great Falls, Montana and included about 40 students. In November 2003, Luck Studios moved to the Virginia Peninsula. The 2020 - 2021 school year will be Samantha’s 28th year of teaching music. |
Luck Studios offers music lessons in piano, guitar, and voice to students of all ages and levels in an atmosphere modeled to support each student’s education. Lesson plans, materials, and teaching methods are designed and selected according to the individual student’s learning styles, goals and music preferences. Because of her special training in Music Therapy, Samantha accepts students with special needs and develops an individualized music lesson plan for the student. |
Samantha’s music study began at the age of 2 when her sisters and parents discovered that she was picking out Looney Tunes music by ear on their family piano. She was enrolled in a music appreciation class and soon began formal piano study through the Suzuki piano method. After high school Samantha decided to combine her love of music and interests in science (particularly psychology, child development and medicine) by studying Music Therapy. While attending Radford University in Radford, Virginia she expanded her musical knowledge by studying guitar, percussion, harp, harpsichord, brass and stringed instruments as well as advanced collegiate piano. In 2000, after completing an internship at Cherry Psychiatric Hospital in North Carolina, Samantha received her Bachelors of Music Therapy Degree. |
In addition to teaching, Samantha keeps up her performance skills by playing piano, pipe organ and harp as well as singing for church and other performance venues. She is a member of the Music Teacher’s National Association, Peninsula Music Teachers Association, current Treasurer for Cadenza Club, an organization affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs and Co-Chairman of the club's local festival in February and March. Her goal at Luck Studios is to develop each student’s love of music and to provide lessons for all interested students regardless of the challenges that student may experience.
